Event Description

Singer’s Jazz Series features vocalists Laura Marks, Sam Boverman & Julie McGregor singing time-honoured compositions by Johnny Mercer with Matt Newton on piano, Jesse Dietsche on bass and Kevin Dempsey on drums. Johnny Mercer, best known as a lyricist, but he also composed music.

Many of his songs are part of The Great American Songbook. From the mid-1930s through the mid-1950s, a countless number of the songs Mercer wrote and performed were among the most popular hits of the time. He wrote the lyrics to more than fifteen hundred songs
